Castle Rock - Badlands of Kansas Castle Rock, also known as the Badlands of Kansas, is a chalk pinnacle rising from the prairie and located about 20 miles southeast of Quinter. Thousands of years ago, this area was covered by chalk ocean, which accounts for the chalk bluffs and beds. Much fossil work was done in this area by the Sternbergs. Their fossil finds are in museums all over the world. The chalk buffs are still a fossil hunter's delight. We serve a free meal of chili and cinnamon rolls and set up fun games and activities for the kids to enjoy. At the end of the night, we have gift drawings for all ages.
